A new couponing game show is in the works! This just adds to the idea that I’m extremely intuitive. I wouldn’t say psychic because I’m not that good, but extremely intuitive. What am I talking about? I posted the other day about how I longed for a game show like the old “Supermarket Sweeps!” Now, my request has been fulfilled. I had NO IDEA that this type of show concept was being considered!
Here are the details from WeUseCoupons.com.
The Show:
The show is based loosely around the idea of ‘Supermarket Sweep’. Couponers will have a certain time limit to shop, a large clock will be featured in the store and they have to be at the register waiting before the clock gets down to zero.
A few rules of the show: Shoppers MUST have a minimum retail purchase of $500 before coupons. One item in your cart must not exceed 50% (in other words you can’t buy 200 bottles of shampoo and then get 5 tubes of toothpaste and call it a night). You also must have at least 5 different items in your cart. There are a few more rules that govern the competition.
The show itself is a competition. There will be 24 different couponers selected, some will be from Extreme Couponing, and others will be new. The couponers will ‘compete’ against each other in the hopes of getting to the finale episode.

On a related topic, I have been really disappointed with Game Show Network for the past few years. They even changed their name to GSN, just like Kentucky Fried Chicken changed their name to KFC. It’s like they were embarrassed about having game shows, and even tried to have a “reality show” with Carnie Wilson. Well, that was a success! Why can’t you listen to your fans and bring back the shows we know and love?
I love to watch the old game shows, and the “good” ones are never on anymore. I was thinking that they didn’t have these anymore because they show tons of comments and questions that are not “politically correct.” However, what old show is the biggest offender in the political correctness arena? Match Game! Yet, they insist on playing that show over and over! Too obnoxious! I have also heard that the licensing fees for the old shows were too high. Then, GSN claimed that their viewers wanted to see new games shows, and were tired of the old ones. I don’t know if that is really true.
Of course I’m going to watch this new couponing show! Will I like it? Maybe, but I’m not sure if I want to see some of the folks from Extreme Couponing again. I especially do not want to see that trashy lady that actively committed coupon fraud, while managers and other employees stood by the register clapping and cheering for her. I’d love to see fresh faces of couponers who actually use coupons correctly.
Would you rather see old or new game shows? Are you going to watch the new couponing game show? I’d love to hear your comments. If you don’t see the comment box, click on the title of this article, and then scroll to the bottom of the page.
